About Us

Our Principal Scientist, Glenn Larkin, has 40 years of experience as a chemist and wood scientist in industry, academia, and as an entrepreneur. His work has spanned analytical and physical chemistry, and wood conversion, decomposition, modification, and preservation. Mr. Larkin has also studied chemical reactions of dyes necessary for polymeric solar cells and formulated environmentally friendly coatings and consumer products with bio-based raw materials.

Mr. Larkin is keenly concerned about the environment and has also been engaged in efforts to reclaim and upcycle pre- and post-consumer forest products waste. Among his current interests are the use of green solvents in chemical processes and the use of green chemistry in product development. Another recurring theme during his career has been the value of high-quality data, its acquisition, and how to communicate it.

Recognized by his peers for his no-nonsense forthright manner and technical expertise, Glenn has had the privilege of serving in leadership roles in professional organizations such as the American Chemical Society (ACS) and AOAC International as well as being invited to review manuscripts for Cellulose, Forest Products Journal, Wood & Fiber Science, and Journal of AOAC. Mr. Larkin is the author/co-author of 25 publications. He remains active in the development and revision of nationally and internationally accepted standards.
